Simple Non-intrusive Peace of mind How did you come up with the idea for this product? A few years ago, after my her passed away, my mother was left alone in her home. My sister and I tried to visit as often as we could to make sure everything was OK and take care of her needs. Unfortunately, we couldn’t be there all the time, every day. When we looked at my mother’s pillbox we realized that she often forgot to take prescription drugs that were critical for her . So, I thought that I could make a sensor that could make sure that she always takes her pills on time and call her automatically if she didn’t. My mother was absolutely non-tech savvy so I needed to do something very very simple that acted as if it wasn’t there and used objects she was already familiar with. While doing the sensor I realized that there are so many things in an elderly’s life that need to be monitored as they age more and more. So we worked hard to come up with a solution that could adapt to needs and concerns that arise over time. I am the real and very first user of the solution we built. What makes your product special? The biggest challenge was to make a seamless and versatile sensor both from designed and function standpoints. We think that the sensor needs to blend into everyday life without people having to care about it - specifically non-tech savvy elderly people. Each sensor needs to be small and slick, which reduced the size of the battery. We worked hard to optimize our algorithms to increase battery life significantly without losing any data. We also worked on smart algorithms that could detect what people are doing without ever asking for a manual input. We wanted to smartify ordinary life, make sense of random gestures and daily activities. It's been quite a challenge to seamlessly guess what people are doing.
